⚑ Diver overdue or missing in a cave, cavern, or mine?
1. Establish a Secondary Command Post for the Rescue/Recovery Divers if needed.
2. Select an Underwater Coordinator/Supervisor, if needed.
3. Utilize maps, chalkboards, sketchpads, tape recorders, portable shelters, etc.
4. Organize dive teams and their roles.
5. Organize surface logistics (back-up tanks, scooters, fire, etc.).
6. Establish a search plan.
7. Appoint someone to record all pertinent information (areas searched, divers utilized, bottom time, etc.).
8. Review procedure to be used when locating victim(s).
9. Prepare a plan for rescue/recovery:
a) Body removal
b) Equipment removal
c) Evidence handling (any item that may have been used if a homicide)
10. Utilize other personnel as needed:
a) Station someone at cave entrance to log all entries and exits.
b) Equipment handlers
c) Communications (In some locations a cell phone is essential)
d) Security
e) Food and shelter
f) Liaison to family members
