The IUCRR publishes incident reports only for underwater-overhead incidents its own divers helped document on-site. We cannot record every incident worldwide, and we never base a report on second-hand information.
Information collected during a rescue or recovery initially belongs to the law enforcement agency responsible for the scene. A report is published here only after review and approval by the responsible Regional Coordinator and the IUCRR Board of Directors. Some reports never appear — usually because law enforcement has not released the information, or legal proceedings are ongoing.
Reports never name victims, and the IUCRR never determines or speculates about the cause of an incident. The facts are published, on a best-effort basis, so divers can draw their own conclusions; the IUCRR is not responsible for any misuse of the information.
